Description:
Whether your child is a student-athlete who is looking to 'up his game' or simply someone who loves to participate in athletics, the new Pioneer Sports Academy located at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University offers them an opportunity to develop important skills while having fun this summer.
Over a six-week period, eight different sports camps will be available, including boys lacrosse, baseball, football and basketball and girls lacrosse, softball, basketball and field hockey.
All camps, which will be lead by the coaches of the C.W. Post Pioneer Athletics Division II teams and their assistants, are designed to focus on the skills that will enhance an individual''s talent and ability, while reinforcing the fundamentals of every area in a particular sport. Through demonstrations, drills and positive reinforcement, coaches will provide concentrated instruction that will benefit any athlete, whether they are at the beginners or advanced level.
'This is a great way to build a child''s confidence while they have fun,' said Dorene Angevine, director of programs for youth at the C.W. Post Campus. 'Students who attend the Pioneer Sports Academy will get the opportunity to play and learn from outstanding coaches and staff who know their sport inside and out.'

The 2010 Pioneer Sports Academy schedule are:
June 28 - July 2: Boys Lacrosse and Boys Baseball
July 5 - 9: Girls Lacrosse
July 12 - 16: Girls Softball
July 19 - 23: Boys Football
July 26 - 30: Girls Basketball and Girls Field Hockey
August 2 - 6: Boys Basketball

Program Information:
June 28-August 6, 2010, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m
Children ages 7 to 17 who will be grouped by age, skill level and experience
Cost: Each individual camp costs $450. Registration is ongoing.
After Camp Program : For an additional charge, an after camp program is available through the C.W. Post Summer Day Camp until 6 p.m. Lunch is provided and all campers receive a camp t-shirt. Description:
For over 30 years, Future Stars has been providing families in Westchester, Manhattan, and Long Island with comprehensive, specialty camp programs in the New York area. Programs will be directed by experienced and qualified teachers and coaches, who share a passion for working with children. Campers enjoy a daily recreational swim period, relaxing lunch and tremendous camaraderie with fellow campers and coaches.

Baseball Camp: Campers work individually & as teams to improve their offense & defense, power hitting, average, throwing, fielding, & speed/agility. Boys aged 6-16.
Basketball Camp: Campers benefit from our philosophy of small-group instruction, close supervision, emphasis on skills, quality game play, & focus on team-work. Boys & Girls aged 6-16.
Cheerleading Camp: Campers will participate in a dynamic, fun-filled program combining dance, jump, cheers & chants. Girls aged 7-16.
Field Hockey: Strong emphasis on fundamental skill mastery, situational play, and daily scrimmages. Girls aged 10 -16.
Football Camp: Campers divided by age, weight & ability. Contact will be introduced using a progressive methodology focusing on technical proficiency. Every day, throughout the week, players will be taught to enhance their skills, improve their speed, strength & agility, a& to play their position with proficiency. Boys aged 8-16.
Golf Camp: Campers participate in a dynamic program with daily training in stations that focus on tee ball, long iron, fairway woods, chipping, putting, &sand play. Boys & Girls aged 8-16.
Lacrosse Camp: Campers follow a program with major emphasis on teaching and developing individual skills whilst also developing ‘field sense’ and team concepts. Boys & Girls aged 7-16.

Multi-Sports Camp: Perfect blend of sports, recreational games, and camaraderie with campers participating in a multitude of exciting, fun-filled games. Curriculum is designed to be fun & instructional. Includes age appropriate skill building activities. The primary focus is to help campers enjoy themselves in an atmosphere that promotes self confidence & team work. Boys & Girls 6-16
Soccer Camp: Program emphasizes ball control, passing, agility, attacking, & defending with daily matches to ensure all campers all challenged and develop further. Boys & Girls aged 6-16.
Softball Camp: Campers are challenged to become more confident & composed players following a technical & tactical program of hitting, fielding, throwing, catching, & agility drills. Girls aged 11-16.
Tennis Camp: : Individually designed to methodically challenge players of all levels. Campers encouraged to enhance their strokes and strategies via group lesson, skill building drills, organized play, target training, & more. Boys & Girls aged 6-16.
Track & Field Camp: Designed to help campers become better, faster, and smarter athletes. Provides an educational and inspirational experience for track & field campers of all ages, skill levels, and abilities. You'll leave camp with increased running knowledge, new friends, & an enhanced love for the sport! Boys & Girls aged 7-16.
Volleyball Camp: Campers follow a challenging program of technical & tactical drills geared to improve fundamental skills and enhance game performance. Girls aged 11-16.
Little Stars Camp: A program designed specifically for Boys & Girls aged 4-6. Little Stars is a gentle blend of Tennis instruction, Swim instruction, Arts & Crafts, Recreational Sports, Music, and more.

Cornell University Girls Advanced Field Hockey Camp

Description:
Cornell University Girls Field Advanced Hockey
Directed by Cornell's head coach and staffed Cornell coaches, visiting coaches and current Cornell field hockey players. The advanced camp is designed for serious athletes who desire a highly competitive and intense training experience. All sessions will be held exclusively on Astro-turf and will include tactical sessions for offensive and defensive team work. In order to provide more individual instruction the camp enrollment is limited to 70 campers

Team / Open Field Hockey
Cornell's Team/Open Field Hockey Camp is an official USA Field Hockey partner camp that is directed by Cornell head coach Donna Hornibrook and staffed by Cornell coaches, visiting coaches and current Cornell field hockey players. Sessions will be held on the Marsha Dodson Field and will cover all aspects of the game, including tactical sessions for offensive and defensive strategies, game and positional strategies and individual skill work. The camp is held at the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, New York. Cornell players will coach and supervise campers. Games will be played during evening sessions. Teams will be formed if less than a full team comes from a school. All campers receive a FREE camp T-shirt, ball and CORNELL field hockey jersey.

Girls' Field Hockey Camp

Description:
The field hockey camp is designed to help players improve their fundamental skills, expose them to new strategies and increase their knowledge and enjoyment of the game. In addition to drill work and discussions, the camp will feature competitive games each evening. Hartwick’s Wright Stadium (FieldTurfฎ) provides the ideal playing surface for the camp.
The camp is directed by Hartwick head coach Anna Meyer. In 22 seasons, Meyer has built Hartwick's field hockey team into a national contender.

Camp staff members will instruct players in the current fundamentals and strategies of field hockey. Stickwork and small team games will be used to stress the concepts and skills required to become a better player. A goalkeeper coach will instruct goalies in the key elements of that position. The camp also includes special activities, including movies, a pizza party, and an ice cream party.

Vassar College Girls Competitive Field Hockey Camp (Residential)

Description:
This competitive Field Hockey residential camp is designed to teach individual skills and team concepts to both the beginner and the experienced player. Campers will refine basic skills and learn new strategies consistent with the latest trends in field hockey. The camp staff, led by Vassar College field hockey assistant coach Cara Dunn, is comprised of college coaches and players and a certified athletic trainer, with a camper-coach ratio of 8:1.
