Ithaca, NY - Cornell University
Cornell University Youth Sports Day Camp

Description:
Cornell University will once again sponsor a summer Youth Sports Camp for children between the ages of 7 and 11. Children will be grouped by age. Camps will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Campers will receive individual and group instruction in a variety of sports. Supervised team competitions will also be held, again with teams separated by age groups. Every camper receives a free t-shirt.

Children will learn and play several different sports each week (football has been removed from the curriculum). Campers participate in bowling and a week ending skit. A daily swimming session is included in the camp curriculum.

Our main goal is to foster learning in a fun, sports-oriented atmosphere where children receive positive feedback for their accomplishments and recognition for their participation. Participation in sports can greatly enhance both the physical and mental development of young children. Children between the ages of 7 and 11 are active, exuberant, and possess a growing sense of independence. By experiencing a wide variety of sports, these children can gain self-confidence and self-esteem in a climate of teamwork and fair play.
