Program Information: MARITIME ADVENTURE 1- BOAT CAMP: Sailing, Powerboat Instruction, Kayaking
Students entering grades 5 - 7 Group Size: 4- 18 Monday Friday; 9 a.m. 5 p.m (extended day available)

(8:00am early drop-off & 5:00pm, late pick up available for an additional $100.00)
Explore all New York Maritimes waterfront has to offer in this jam packed two weeks of activity. Discover sailing aboard a 24 keelboat with an instructor and your friends as crew, learn how to safely operate a powerboat with hands-on training, earn your New York State Boating Safety Certificate, paddle around in kayaks, splash in the pool, go fishing, explore the fish, crabs and other marine organisms on the shore with nets and enjoy games and initiatives that foster self-confidence, communication, and teamwork.
MARITIME ADVENTURE II ADVANCED BOAT CAMP

For the daring souls that thrived in Maritime Adventure Boat Camp in 2009 (which includes everyone) and their parents who encouraged us to add an advanced course here it is. Take your boating and seamanship skills to the next level. Challenge yourself to sail through Captain Mikes obstacle course, earn your US POWERBOATING Boat Handling Certification, get muddy exploring marine life, splash around in kayaks, go fishing and discover SCUBA diving
SAFE POWERBOAT HANDLING
Ages 10-adult Group Size: 4- 12 Time: 9am 6pm

Fee: Check weblink in Contact section below for further information, includes all books, safety equipment and on-the water instruction; State Boating Safety Certifications are extra ($10 for New York State, $25 for Connecticut sent directly to the state). Registration form must be received one week prior to class start date.
This sixteen hour, on-the-water course is for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a powerboat or improve their on-the-water boat handling skills.
BOATING SAFETY CERTIFICATION
Ages 10-adult Group size 6+ Wednesday &Thursday classes are 6 10 p.m. each night, Saturday classes -9 a.m. 6 p.m

Fee: $75/per person, Discount Rates for early sign up, seniors over 55, veterans or active military- includes all materials, $10 for certification payable directly to NYS).
This eight hour course covers safety equipment, safe boat operation, marlinspike seamanship (knots, coiling and heaving line), rules of the road, aids to navigation, emergency procedures, rendering assistance and a host of other areas. This primarily classroom course integrates practical application of all skills using dockside demonstrations and other hands-on methods whenever possible. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and meets the New York State boating safety education requirements.
COMMUNITY LEARN TO SAIL New York Maritime College
Age Group: Keelboat: 18+; <18 accompanied by adult ; Dinghy 14 - 18 June-August, 2010

Captain your own sailboat! Participants will cover the basics of sailing including boating safety, terminology, rigging, how sails work, points of sail, tacking and jibing, and learn essential knots.

Recommended Length: Keelboat: 3 hours weeklong
Dinghy: 10 half days, 5 half days minimum
includes all safety equipment and on-the-water instruction
Prerequisites: Keelboat none; Dinghy - basic swimming skills
