YP 108 High School Preparatory Academy for Students in Grades 7 & 8
This six- week program will include a variety of academic, cultural and recreational courses ,designed to prepare students for the high school experience. Academic modules will focus on concepts and skills necessary for success on specialized and standardized exams. All classes are held on our beautiful campus. Limited Enrollment. Program offerings include:
Math Matters-- - a course in mathematical concepts and problem solving skills with a focus on the NY State mathematics exams. This is the perfect bridge program linking one grade to the next.
Humanities-- - a course in language arts and social studies which helps students develop those skills essential for success on NY State standardized exams. Students develop vocabulary, reading and writing skills and keep abreast of current events.
Senior Robotics-- - a hands- on workshop in which students delve into the world of robotic technology. Students will use acquired skills to build their very own working robots. This program is presented by Mad Science of Brooklyn.
Adventures in Animation--an innovative class in which students explore the world of animation using computer software and digital cameras.
Exciting new projects presented each summer.
Intermediate Theater Arts-- -a course designed to build self-confidence and strengthen self-awareness through role playing, monologues and interactive skits. (For students entering Grade 7.)
Improv Theater-- -a dynamic series of workshops in which students present short scenes constructed from predetermined theater games, structures or ideas driven by audience suggestion. (For students entering grade 8.)
Business Brains-- -a class designed to empower young people with entrepreneurial, business and personal finance skills through innovative and fun activities. (For students entering grade 8.)
Fitness for Tweens-- -a physical education course which focuses on nutrition, exercise and indoor sports. (For students entering grade 7.) 



YP 109 College Preparatory Academy for Students in Grades 9-12
Students enrolled in our College Preparatory Academy will participate in activities designed to enhance study skills and test-taking techniques, as well as critical thinking and social skills. Academic modules will focus on concepts and skills necessary for success in high school courses. Limited Enrollment. 
Classes may include:

Project Math-- - classes designed to prepare rising students for high school math curricula as follows: Grade 9-Algebra; Grade 10-Geometry; Grade 11-Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus;
Grade 12-Pre-Calculus/Calculus
Individualized programs available for advanced students.

Humanities -- - an integrated course in language arts and social studies which focuses on the development of vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing skills as well as on current events. Grade appropriate materials are used for students in grades 9-12.
Improv Theater -- - a dynamic series of workshops in which students present short scenes constructed from predetermined theater games, structures or ideas driven by audience suggestion.
Adventures in Animation-- - - In this innovative class, students will explore the world of animation using computer software and digital cameras. New projects are presented each summer.
Book Illustration & Design-- - Using mixed media, students will learn how to design the layout of a book including cover, flyleaf and interior illustrations.
Forensics-- - a hands on workshop in which students delve into the world of detective crime science and secret communications. The classroom will be transformed into a crime lab for this exciting exploration of the fundamentals of forensics. (For students entering Grades 9 & 10.)
Entrepreneurship Today-- - using a real world approach, students learn the stages of a business start-up and are prepared with a working business plan to begin an entrepreneurial venture-not “someday,” but TODAY. (For students entering Grades 11 & 12.)

Expand the learning capacity of your third or fourth grader with our new and exciting youth program. Academic modules will include instruction in mathematics and language arts. Additional modules will include Radical Reactions (a hands -on science class presented by Mad Science of Brooklyn,) Smart Start for Biz Beginners (a class in finance and money management for kids,) Fitness for Kids, & Computer Creations.

Children entering grades five or six in September 2010 will love this stimulating summer program. Academic modules will include instruction in mathematics and language arts with a focus on test-taking strategies and problem solving skills. For campers entering grades K-9: Specializing in academics, the arts & athletics

Description:
A half day in a specialty and a half day of instructional swim and recreational sports
Hofstra Summer Camps offers a broad spectrum of coed Specialty Camps designed for children entering kindergarten through ninth grade.
Campers entering kindergarten or first grade in 2010 may register for our Cub Camp, while those entering second through ninth grades may choose from any of our 20 different specialties.
Campers choose one specialty each two week session. Campers may participate in the specialty camps for two, four or six weeks. Campers spend one-half of each day participating in their area of specialization and the other half in planned recreational activities, which includes a period of instructional swim in an Olympic-sized pool. Additionally, a special end-of-the season Session Four one-week program is offered for youngsters who wish to engage in a full-day camp program

Our goal is to assist in the development of the total child educationally, athletically, artistically and socially. Our programs combine the excitement of Hofstra's varied curriculum with the professionalism and knowledge of a distinguished instructional staff. The college campus provides an intellectually enriching atmosphere combined with hours of fun. Full utilization is made of Hofstra's excellent indoor and outdoor, athletic and cultural facilities on its beautiful 240-acre campus.

We offer a wide range of creative activities, sports and academics.
For those campers who enjoy athletics we offer a wide range of specialties in: Athletic Development, Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Golf, Soccer and Tennis.
For those campers whose interests lie in academics and the arts: We offer a wide range specialties in Adventure Education, Computer, Counselor Apprentice Program, Dance, Fine Arts, Reading and Writing Learning Institute, Robotics, Science, Softball Actor's Workshop, Musical Theater 3D Computer Modeling and Animation and Video Game Development.

Hofstra University SEVENTH WEEK (Session Four) Program
An array of one-week programs organized for the family that requires an extended camp program or for the camper who wishes the summer excitement to continue. Each program is geared to meet campers' individual needs. All programs have Hofstra's stamp of excellence and are supervised by experienced and dedicated Hofstra staff. Description:
Baruch College is offering a dynamic, interactive summer enrichment program for high school students going into 10th & 11th grade.
Summer in the City Day Camp is a 4 week full-day program: Monday, July 5, 2010 through Friday, July 30, 2010.

While the program is grounded in experiential learning and critical thinking, it is also social & recreational, designed for fun & engagement in a stress-free environment. Located on 24th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan
Each day of camp will run from 9am – 5pm with lunch provided. Two cohorts of 35 students each will experience two workshops or seminars a day, one NYC field trip per week, SAT prep (including 2 diagnostics), recreation, group activities, oral communication training, video blogs, and a group competition culminating in presentations and lap-top awards for first place. Field Trips Every Week:
One day each week, students will be accompanied on field trips to exciting destinations throughout New York City. Public transportation to and from field trips will be provided and will be supervised by counselors and the Camp Coordinator. Lunch will not be provided on days when there is a field trip and students are encouraged to bring their own lunches or have lunch money for the day. Field trips meet at Baruch College and end there as well. Locations may include:

St. Joseph’s College, noted for its academic excellence, is offering a summer program for children and young people in kindergarten through 7th grade on the Long Island Campus, Patchogue, New York. It will be in session, Monday through Thursday on the Long Island Campus, Patchogue, for students in grades K-7, July 6 - 28, 2010
An exciting array of courses in math and science discovery, Spanish, oceanography, chemistry, computer, creative writing and kindergarten skills has been designed to stimulate curiosity and broaden the student’s awareness of the world in which we live. In addition, courses in supplemental math and reading will be available to provide reinforcement of skills learned during the school year.
There is a swim program with various options available to students enrolled in one enrichment or reading/math class.

DIGITAL Art Classes for Children & Teens

Description:
Summer Pre-College and Children's Programs:
Session I: July 6- July 19, 2010. Session II: July 20- August 2, 2010
For more information or to register, please call (914) 606-7301. The Center for the Digital Arts, Peekskill Extension is located at 27 N. Division Street in Peekskill, NY. Throughout the year, the Center runs adult new media arts offerings in both credit and non-credit areas.
At the Center, you will find New Media Arts Training at an Affordable Price; State of the Art Equipment ; Nurturing Instruction; Opportunities for Creative Expression via use of multi-media tools; Expression of artistic vision.
Students may register for one or more classes in their age group. These 2-hour classes meet from 9:30-11:30 am and 12:00 noon-2:00 pm, with a half hour supervised lunch break. The only time exception is Game Design which meets from 9:30-11:30 am and continues from 12:00 noon-2:00 pm with a half hour lunch at 11:30 am (4 total class hours). Students must bring their own non-perishable lunches.

DIGITAL ARTS CLASSES FOR TEENS - Ages 12-17
Game Design is $156 (+ $50 lab fee); all other classes are $103 (+ $50 lab fee) and do not meet on Fridays. The first class of each session starts on a Tuesday and the Center hosts an exhibition of student on the last day of each session.
NEW! 3D Animation
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of 3D character design and animation. Each student will learn the mechanics of a 3D software environment and produce a moving character of their own invention. Students will be able to take home a Quicktime movie of their animation. Digital Storytelling
Analyze films and photographs to understand their impact. By doing this you can create more dramatic work. Everything has a story. It does not matter what type of work you do, even a 30 sec commercial has a beginning middle and end. Class exercises will fine tune your skills, some writing involved. Graphic Design - Good design makes all the difference! Learn design fundamentals including type, color and page layout using InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, through designing posters or “zines” and other creative projects. Casa Italiana LeChase Lounge

The Casa Italiana's children's camp celebrated its 15th anniversary last July with 98 youthful participants learning their cultural heritage during the week-long sessions. Through classic Montessori teaching methods, your children will study the Italian language and experience Italian cooking, games, history, and traditions.
Casa Italiana also runs year-round programs for children in the fall and spring semesters.

Registration for Casa members is $145 and $195 for non members. Members may pre-register during the month of March, on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited and members are encouraged to register early. Contact Casa Italiana at (585) 389-2468 to reserve your spot.

The Children's Camps are sponsored through the generous assistance of Rochester Italian Charities. Scholarships are available for those in need of financial assistance.

The Summer Academy is Hudson Valley’s latest Kids on Campus offering. On these pages you will find a variety of classes that will interest and engage your child. Programs are offered for elementary, middle and high school students and are scheduled so your child can attend in the morning, afternoon or both.

Kids may choose from a series of half-day programs on a wide variety of subjects. Academy courses cover: language, history, science, mathematics, technology and fitness.

These themed workshops will by taught by current and former teachers and other professionals who have skills or experience in the content area. Additional counselor staff may assist with supervision. The academic courses in Reading, Math, and Writing are offered in cooperation with The Educational Improvement Depot.

S.A.T. Preparation Course for High School Students
This course is designed to prepare students for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (math, verbal and writing sections). The schedule of topics will be determined the first session. The course will teach strategies for problem solving, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, sentence completion, grammar and essay writing skills. The classes will use actual SAT questions for practice to familiarize students with the test format and style.

Summer Educational Enrichment Program

Description:
Children entering grades 1-7 are grouped by age and grade completed. Each group will have between 15 and 20 students and has a counselor assigned to them throughout the day. The children and their counselor move to each of the following content areas, which are led by teachers.
The Content Components: We are pleased to announce themed sessions for the Summer Educational Enrichment Program. Each week will have a unique theme that will carry across the following content areas.

Each class will be developed to include the weekly theme. Special art projects, games, and a guest speaker will be featured each week. A mini variety show and movie feature will take place on Friday afternoon to complete each special week.

Technology Enrichment Day Program

Description:
The Technology Enrichment Program will be held on the Hudson Valley Community College campus again this year. This program will give students a chance to discover their interests and talents through hands-on, activity packed learning sessions. Students will be given the opportunity to explore several dynamic areas.
The program will meet Monday through Friday for one week. Students will have one half-hour for lunch and are expected to bring their own lunch and beverage.
