For passionate high school artists (grades 9-12 unless otherwise noted) and those planning to pursue the arts on the college level. Portfolio/performance building opportunities and audition training techniques. Earn certification letters based upon participation and attendance. Schedules allow for more than one art form. Participate in a performance, exhibition, or publication for friends and family.
Architecture Intensive (Grades 9-12)
July 29 – August 9. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition) Design, draft, and model a structure of your choosing during studio work sessions. Learn how to manipulate space, materials, and style through exercises that focus on drawing and thinking like an architect. Tools of the trade will be introduced and perfected to create the main, individual projects that will be made by hand. Architectural drawings will be used to construct a model of your unique architectural design. In addition, a smaller, separate project will be done using digital computer programs. The course will culminate in a display of the drawings and models for family and friends.
Songwriting Workshop (Grades 9-12)
July 1 – July 12. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $990/$890 (discounted tuition) Develop your ability to write, record, perform, and promote your own songs! Receive instruction on piano and/or guitar, lyric writing, music theory and arranging. Learn to use Pro-Tools and Garage Band. Receive a DVD of the concert!
Acting Intensive (Grades 9-12)
July 1– July 26. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $2,100/$1,890 (discounted tuition) Ranked as a Top 15 Precollege Summer Theater Program by backstage! Learn important acting practices of modern theater through scene work by developing the skills of building acting practices of modern theater through scene work by developing the skills of building characters, playing objectives, and expressing interior emotions physically and vocally. Perfect for beginners and advanced actors alike. Receive a DVD of the final performance!
Filmmaking Institute (Grades 9-12)
July 1-– July 26. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $2,100/$1,890 (discounted tuition) Bring your video camera! Advance your knowledge of visual storytelling. Write, direct, and act in original movies. Produce work that may be used in the college application process. Edit using professional software. View your film at the final screening and receive a recording of your movie!
Musical Theatre Bootcamp (Grades 9-12)
July 29 – August 2. Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm. $890/$800 (discounted tuition) Improve your musical theatre technique and gain confidence and a stronger understanding of the audition process for musical theatre and the many paths to performance! Identify the multitude of character “types” in musical theatre, which will help you choose, prepare, and practice a variety of audition materials. Receive daily instruction in acting, voice, and dance.
Acting On Camera Bootcamp (Grades 9-12)
August 5 – August 9. Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm. $890/$800 (discounted tuition) Through daily on-camera work, learn to perform for the camera and gain an awareness of how the camera affects your performance. Discover how TV/film auditions differ from stage auditions and what to expect and how to prepare for them. Investigate the many pathways to performance in film/TV work. The skills you study in Acting for the Camera will support your work in any theatrical medium!
Modern Journalism (Grades 9-12)
July 29 – August 9. Monday-Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition) Channel your passion for the news, storytelling, and communicating! Improve your journalism skills and begin to understand how to report in depth and write clear and concise stories that capture an audience’s attention. Embrace multimedia journalism (video, photography, and social media platforms), and also learn to use professional editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe), sound recorders, and lighting equipment to properly prepare your photos and video for blogs, broadcast, or print. Delve into journalism’s role and responsibilities in society and its legal and ethical concerns.
Creative Writing Workshop (Grades 9-12)
July 15 – July 26. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition) Create and share original work in a workshop-style format focusing on voice, character, tone, plot, and point of view.
Produce polished pieces for COLLEGE ESSAYS and/or award submissions.
Vocal Intensive (Grades 9-12)
July 15 – July 26. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition) Learn to unlock the full potential of your voice through choral and solo training. Pursue an in- depth study of vocal skills and concepts as well as music theory. Receive a DVD of the final performance.
27th Annual Visual Arts Institute (Grades 10-12)
July 15 – July 26. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $2,300/$2,070 (discounted tuition) Attend master workshops in drawing & painting and sculpture and an elective of your choice. Learn how to develop your portfolio and document your work. Display your work in the exhibition!
