Description:
The Lawrence Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College is offering the following Camps and Workshops for Summer 2010:
Jazz Camp:
The Summer Jazz Camp at CPSM is designed to meet the needs of both beginning and experienced jazz performers, ages 12 to 18. The workshop offers an intensive full-day program that maximizes performance time each day with three ensemble rehearsal periods, a midday performance forum, and daily master classes. Students also attend theory/improvisation and jazz listening classes each day.
Dates: July 1—July 29, 2010
Monday-Thursday, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Fee: $1650.00

Chamber Music Workshop:
Open to intermediate through advanced string, wind and piano students, ages 12 to 18. This four week program will consist of daily rehearsing, coaching and master classes. A gala showcase performance in LeFrak Concert Hall will conclude the workshop. Admission by audition.
Dates: July 6—July 29, 2010
Monday-Thursday, 10 AM - 3 PM
Fee: $1000.00

Guitar and Percussion Workshop
Beginner, intermediate and advanced players, ages 10 to 16,  will be accepted in this workshop. The workshop will feature instruction for guitar and percussion students, that will focus on performance techniques, and other related issues. All performers will rehearse daily, and a final concert at the end of the workshop will feature the students in a variety of ensembles.

Musical Theater Workshop
This exciting program will consist of classes in vocal technique, dance, song/audition repertoire, acting and scene study.  At the end of the session, students will perform in a Showcase open to the public. Every student will be assigned a lead role in at least one scene. Admission by audition. The program is open to students entering the 5th to 10th grades in September 2010.

Adelphi University Pre-College Summer Jazz Intensive

Description:
This performance-focused program is designed to strengthen the jazz skills and artistry of promising student musicians, and further prepare them for entry into premier jazz ensembles and programs at the university level. Students will learn and play alongside esteemed jazz artist-teachers, and be immersed in jazz performance while participating in small combo rehearsals, master classes, and improvisation workshops. Professional recordings of students' final performances will be provided.
Students will study at Adelphi's beautiful, safe, and art-filled Garden City campus in our magnificent Performing Arts Center. Adelphi University is just 40 minutes by train from midtown Manhattan.
Curriculum: Students participate daily in instrument specific workshops, jazz combo rehearsals (preparing for a final performance), master classes, and theory/improvisation and jazz listening/history classes. When not involved in rehearsals and classes, students have the opportunity to enjoy planned activities both on and off campus, including two carefully integrated and closely chaperoned trips to New York City venues (including a trip to a premier NYC jazz club).

Eligibility: Students must be entering grades 10, 11, or 12 in fall 2010 in order to participate.

A Unique Music Camp: Signature Music Camp is a residential, age-focused music camp that utilizes the state-of-the-art Whalen Music Center on the Ithaca College Campus. Crane Youth Music Camp: Instrumental and Vocal

Description:
Crane Youth Music (CYM) was founded in 1972 and is proud to be celebrating its 38th session this summer. To this day, CYM continues a heritage of outstanding and cost effective musical training for young musicians, ages 12-18, throughout the eastern United States.

The staff includes Crane School of Music faculty supplemented by additional guest artists/teachers. All students attend master classes taught by master teachers, perform in large group ensembles, and have the opportunity to receive training in music theory and aural skills. String performers participate in string sectionals and chamber music groups in addition to orchestra. Pianists receive individual lessons, coaching, and group piano instruction in the electronic piano labs. Vocalists perform in a variety of choral ensembles and work in small class lessons as well as master classes. Instrumentalists rehearse with a band twice daily and also perform in chamber ensembles. Crane has an outstanding choral heritage and all students have the opportunity to perform in the all-camp choir.

Skidmore Jazz Institute is designed for students who are serious about improving their skills, learning about jazz and working with some of the masters of the field.
