NYSID's Pre-College Summer Program
Discover a Career in Interior Design

Description:
The New York School of Interior Design’s Pre-College programs, open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, will immerse you in the practice of interior design. You’ll study color, materials, architectural drawing, and digital media. You’ll visit design firms and museums, and spend your downtime hanging out in the nation’s design capital. And all classes are led by the same established designers that teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs. This program will build your portfolio, answer questions about your future, and a give you head start in interior design. Students receive one undergraduate credit for completion of each course.
040 Pre-College I: Learn the basics of interior design, and complete a small residential design project. Learn to draft and understand floor plans, come up with a design concept, put together a color scheme, select furniture and materials, and visit showrooms and design offices. Pull it all together in the design of a NYC apartment.
041 Pre-College II: Take your basic interior design knowledge to another level, and design a small café or hotel lobby. Visit design offices, meet professional designers, and gain an understanding of a more complex space. (040 Pre-College I is a prerequisite)
