Alfred University Summer Theatre Camp is an exciting, 2-week intensive program for students interested in learning more about theatre production and performance. Summer Theatre at Alfred provides a great opportunity for students to create, experience and develop perspectives and skills in theatre through full group sessions and with a good deal of individual attention, training and experience in theatre from our distinguished faculty. Our unique blend of broad choices and training in specific areas leads to many energetic classes and much individual growth. With a dynamic, engaging, talented and caring faculty, terrific facilities, and lovely surroundings, the Alfred University Theatre Institute could make this your best summer ever!
Morning sessions focus on actor training. Afternoons are devoted to design, technical theatre, voice and voice development. In the late afternoons students choose particular areas to work on, including voice for the stage, acting, design, technical theatre and/or stage managing. At least one trip to a professional theatre will be included in the program. The institute will conclude with a public performance of scenes and at least one rehearsed short play.
When not in class or rehearsal, students enjoy planned recreational activities which may include indoor and outdoor games, movies, hikes, bowling, social gatherings at a local coffee house as well as a farewell party on the last night.
