Alexa Café: Chic, All-Girls Tech Learning Experience

Description:
Calling all girls! Build tech skills in a unique, stylish setting where girls collaborate in small, close-knit clusters and discover coding, design, filmmaking, leadership, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and more.
Week-long day and overnight sessions for ages 10-15 are held at campuses nationwide.
“Learning to code helps kids feel empowered to make an impact on the world. Programs specifically designed to teach girls to code are a vital part of getting more girls interested in tech.”
–Susan Wojcicki, Chief Executive Officer, YouTube
Immerse in this chic concept where girls collaborate and discover coding, design, filmmaking, leadership, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and more in a unique, stylish setting. Tech-savvy instructors act as role models, emphasizing that the program is about more than technology. It’s about making the world a better place and innovating solutions to help others in our local communities and beyond our borders. Whether designing a sleek webpage, producing a film, learning to code creatively, or developing wearable electronics with lights and sensors, technology shouldn’t be intimidating or uninspired. In the right environment, it’s cool. Meaningful. Life changing. Alexa Café isn’t just an all-girls summer tech camp. It’s a movement. It’s a chic concept where girls ages 10-15 collaborate and create in small, close-knit clusters during the weeklong program. A place where ideas take shape around café tables and atop beanbags in small classes with never more than 8 students per instructor.
Creative Coding: Bring ideas to life with products like Scratch and JavaScript. Too often we associate programming with stale “make a calculator” themes. No longer! Creativity rules!
Electrical Engineering and Coding: Develop wearable elctronics that spring to life with lights and sensors.
Design: Create the perfect logo! Brand-building takes trial and error, a sense of purpose, and an eye for style.
Filmmaking: Discover the major elements of film production, and collaborate to create movies that inform and inspire
Convenience & Flexibility for Busy Parents
• No Lines: You’ll whisk through check-in and check-out at camp.
• Make Changes Anytime: Enroll today to avoid the waitlist, and make changes up to 3 weeks before your session begins - without any fees. It’s flexibility for the modern parent.

NYU High School Summer Art Intensive

Description:
The NYU High School Summer Art Intensive is a 3-week residential pre-college program that gives students a unique opportunity to live and study studio art in one of the greatest cities in the world. Approximately 36 students, ages 16-18 will immerse themselves in 40 hours per week of instruction in college-level studio art classes and guided studio time. Students will be given full access to the NYU Steinhardt Department of Art and Art Profession's equipment, materials, and studio space. The program offers two modules of classes modeled after our undergraduate program, where art-making and critical-thinking go hand in hand. Plus, students are automatically enrolled in a Visionary Studios class, involving artist talks, field trips, and more.
Classes will take place at NYU’s Barney Building on 34 Stuyvesant Street in the heart of New York City’s East Village, one of the city’s most exciting neighborhoods. Students choose one of the following modules:
• 2D (Drawing and Painting)
• 3D (Mold-Making and Ceramics)
The critique is an integral part of the program and will take place from time to time in each class. Students will talk about their own and each other’s work, and become more comfortable with conversation regarding art. This will help prepare them for critiques in college and beyond. The NYU Summer Art Intensive is a highly competitive program and we are looking for self-motivated students who want to build their portfolios in a fast-paced and exciting environment. This is an opportunity not to be missed!
