DANCE CAMP: Jazz & Hip-Hop Focus SOCAPA: School of Cinema & Performing Arts in New York City

Description: SOCAPA's Summer Dance Programs focus on Urban Dance, primarily Jazz, Hip-Hop, African and Breaking, with an underlying emphasis on jazz technique. Classes are geared towards learning choreography and preparing routines to be featured in music videos shot by SOCAPA film instructors. Students in our Dance Program leave the school with a DVD portfolio featuring a number of their performances in a variety of projects.
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, our Dance students take classes in Jazz, Hip Hop, African and Breaking. Some classes concentrate on rhythm, individual expression, and utilization of the whole body, while others focus on character development through movement, as well as developing style, stage presence, and confidence. On Thursdays and Fridays the Dance groups go out on location and perform in the weekly music video shoot. See examples of our music video productions on our website link below.
