For passionate high school artists (grades 9-12 unless otherwise noted) and those planning to pursue the arts on the college level. Portfolio/performance building opportunities and audition training techniques. Earn certification letters based upon participation and attendance. Schedules allow for more than one art form. Participate in a performance, exhibition, or publication for friends and family.
STEM Scholars: Art Forensics (Grades 9-12)
June 25 – July 6. Monday-Friday. 9am-5pm. $1,260/$1,135 (discounted tuition) Join members of the Purchase College faculty in small-group, research-based projects and coursework on campus. Develop methodologies for determining the composition of oil paints after they have been applied to a stretched canvas. The resulting methodologies will be used to detect fakes and frauds in the art market.

July 9 – 20. Monday-Friday. 9am-5pm. $1,400/$1,260 (discounted tuition) Join members of the Purchase College faculty in small-group, research-based projects and coursework on campus. Develop original hypotheses about geological and climate processes on Mars, and evaluate and test those hypotheses through the analysis of imagery available from the various orbiters that are currently exploring Mars.

July 23 – August 3. Monday-Friday. 9am-5pm. $1,400/$1,260 (discounted tuition) Join members of the Purchase College faculty in small-group, research-based projects and coursework on campus. Determine “hidden” lactose levels in non-dairy foods. Use a series of enzymatic reactions and fluorescence detection in a microplate reader to measure levels of “hidden” lactose in nondairy foods such as bread, confections, and dry baking mixes to help alleviate this issue.
Architecture Intensive (Grades 9-12)
July 22 – August 3. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition) Design, draft, and model a structure or space of your choosing during studio work sessions. Learn how to manipulate space, materials, and style through exercises that focus on drawing and thinking and through demonstrations of the properties of assorted materials. Draw and use architectural tools and techniques that are presented. Learn to translate your drawings into computer models in daily basic AutoCAD workshops. Use your architectural drawings to construct a model of your unique architectural design.
Songwriting Workshop (Grades 9-12)
June 25 – July 6. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,100/$990 (discounted tuition) Develop your ability to write, record, perform, and promote your own songs! Receive instruction on piano and/or guitar, lyric writing, music theory and arranging. Learn to use Pro-Tools and Garage Band. Receive a DVD of the concert!
Acting Intensive (Grades 9-12)

Musical Theatre Bootcamp (Grades 9-12)
July 30-August 3. Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm. $890/$800 (discounted tuition) Improve your musical theatre technique and gain confidence and a stronger understanding of the audition process for musical theatre and the many paths to performance! Identify the multitude of character “types” in musical theatre, which will help you choose, prepare, and practice a variety of audition materials. Receive daily instruction in acting, voice, and dance.

July 23-August 27. Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm. $890/$800 (discounted tuition) Through daily on-camera work, learn to perform for the camera and gain an awareness of how the camera affects your performance. Discover how TV/film auditions differ from stage auditions and what to expect and how to prepare for them. Investigate the many pathways to performance in film/TV work. The skills you study in Acting for the Camera will support your work in any theatrical medium!

Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,100/$990 (discounted tuition) With Unity, an industry grade design software, aspiring game designers will learn level editing, 3D modeling, intermediate event scripting, and the impact of game play on user experience. Next, go well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world learning the physics behind 3D games, exploring beginner event scripting, level design, controlling the flow of gameplay, and storytelling.

Improve your journalism skills and begin to understand how to report in depth and write clear and concise stories that capture an audience’s attention. Embrace multimedia journalism (video, photography, and social media platforms), and also learn to use professional editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe), sound recorders, and lighting equipment to properly prepare your photos and video for blogs, broadcast, or print. Delve into journalism’s role and responsibilities in society and its legal and ethical concerns.
Creative Writing Workshop (Grades 9-12)
