The NYU Steinhardt Precollege Summer Art Intensive
Description: Our precollege residential summer art intensive allows young artists ages 16 to 18 the opportunity to focus and explore their ideas in the heart of the international art world. Students expand their skills, liberate their imaginations, and enrich their understanding of contemporary art. NYU Steinhardt faculty encourage experimentation through classes in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography/video, and contemporary art. Students work in our professional studios and workshops and take field trips to some of New York City’s cutting-edge galleries and museums, performance venues, and public exhibition spaces. During the final week of the program, participants mount a group exhibition of their work in NYU Steinhardt’s Barney Building in downtown Manhattan. Students also receive individual portfolio sessions to help prepare for portfolio reviews when applying to colleges and art schools.
