How To Get Into a Top Art School
Description: How to Get Into a Top Art School is a 5-day intensive course in establishing preparation for applying to art school. Topics will include 'Building a Strong Portfolio' and 'Careers in the Arts.' The schedule includes one-on-one portfolio critiques, studio activities such as observational drawing and color study, a trip to a professional artist's studio and presentations on various artists' career paths, such as studio artists, museum/gallery work and graphic arts/web design.
This program is for students entering their junior or senior year of high school who wish to continue their education at a top art school. The number of participants will be kept small to allow for individualized attention. We will accept 20-25 students into the program this year. Students are required to bring their portfolios to campus with them for review.
When not in classes, students enjoy planned recreational activities which may include indoor and outdoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, swimming, social gatherings at the Terra Cotta Coffee House and a farewell party on the last night. Living, dining and learning together, students have ample opportunity to get to know each other and develop lasting friendships.
