Description:
Manhattanville’s English Language Institute (ELI) offers a variety of English as a second language (ESL) classes for students who wish to improve their English language proficiency for academic, social, business and professional purposes. Students are given a placement test and are assigned classes according to their level in each of the basic skill areas. Classes include grammar, conversation, reading, writing, TOEFL preparation, ESL Through American Culture. Cultural excursions are included. The ELI’s Intensive program fulfills the US Immigration Services visa requirement for full-time study of English. The ELI is located at Manhattanville College, a beautiful, secure campus in suburban Westchester County, a short bus and train ride from the cultural attractions of New York City.

Program Information:
coed • commuter or residential • ages 16 or older for Summer sessions (high school diploma for Fall & Spring sessions) • Customized programs can be designed for groups of any age
Year-round program (Fall, Spring, Summer) - part-time or full-time study

Spring 2010 dates: (Students residing on campus move in the day before the placement test is administered.)
Spring I: placement: January 22, 9:30 a.m.; classes January 25 – March 12
Spring II: placement: March 19, 9:30 a.m.; classes March 22 – May 7
Spring 2010 costs for 7-week session:
Total Tuition & Fees: $3,377 (application, testing, health insurance, health center, student activities)
Room & Board & key deposit: $3,153 + $185 = $3,338
TOTAL cost with housing & meals: $6,715 Summer 2010: (Students residing on campus move in the day before the placement test is administered.)
Summer 1: placement: May 25, 9:30 am; classes: May 27- June 25
Summer II: placement: July 7, 9:30 am; classes: July 9 – August 6
Summer 2010 costs for one Summer session:
Total Tuition & Fees: $2410 (application, testing, health insurance, student activities)
Room & Board & key deposit: $1720 + 185 = $1905

Fall I: placement: September 9, 9:30 a.m.; classes September 10 – October 22
Fall II: placement: October 23, 9:30 a.m.; classes October 25 – December 10
