SOCAPA’s Summer Programs in Manhattan are ideally located in the heart of Greenwich Village, the thriving, artistic and educational hub of downtown NYC. Our Manhattan campus offers 1-6 week sessions (boarding or day) for high school students ages 14-18. Our residence hall, classrooms, studios, theaters and cafeterias are all within walking distance of one another in the vibrant neighborhood between Union Square, Astor Place and Washington Square Park. Students attend most classes at our Astor Place studios featuring dance and music studios, six classrooms and two blackbox theaters. Our two Mac labs have dozens of Final Cut Pro and Photoshop editing stations along with the full Adobe Creative Suite 5, Microsoft Office, Soundtrack Pro, Screenwriting Software and Lightroom.

Program Information:
Filmmaking: Narrative and Documentary. Write, direct, and produce films. Shoot in HD and edit with Final Cut Pro.
Screenwriting Writing for Film and Television. Learn three-act structure, character development, and writing theory.
Dance: Contemporary Jazz and Hip-Hop. Learn technique and choreography. Perform in Dance Videos and on stage.
Photography: 35mm Film and Digital. Learn studio and lighting techniques, fine art, documentary, and portrait. Darkroom, Photoshop, and Lightroom. Produce a web portfolio.
Acting: For Film and Stage. Learn Meisner and Method techniques, scene preparation, monologues, and audition technique. Act in films and perform on stage.
