Morning sessions focus on actor training. Afternoons are devoted to design, technical theatre, voice and voice development. In the late afternoons students choose particular areas to work on, including voice for the stage, acting, design, technical theatre and/or stage managing. At least one trip to a professional theatre will be included in the program. The institute will conclude with a public performance of scenes and at least one rehearsed short play.
When not in class or rehearsal, students enjoy planned recreational activities which may include indoor and outdoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, hikes, bowling, hayrides, social gatherings at the Terra Cotta Coffee House and a farewell party on the last night. Actor Training Summer Program in NYC and Los Angeles

Our specialized summer programs, at both the New York and Los Angeles campuses, offer you the ideal opportunity to experience The Academy's legendary conservatory training during our accelerated five-week program. Or, you can choose to focus on one aspect of your craft by enrolling in one of several two-week intensives, including camera acting, audition technique and musical theatre. Classes are taught by the same renowned instructors as our Conservatory Program and are kept small for one-on-one instruction. We offer training for stage, film, and television with plenty of performance opportunities throughout the program. For those interested in our full time program, the summer intensive offers an introductory curriculum and gives students unique scholarship opportunities for further study.
