Summer Theater at Alfred University provides a great opportunity for students to create, experience, and develop perspectives and skills in theater through full group sessions and with a good deal of individual attention, training and experience in theater from our distinguished faculty. Students work on improving skills and developing new levels of expertise in two or three areas of performance and/or technical theater. There is range, choice and growth for everyone. The emphasis is on having fun and enjoying our beautiful natural surroundings while learning!
• Actor Training - including improvisation, text analysis, character development, staging, voice production and movement • Technical Theater - including stage managing, scenery, costume and lighting Voice and Voice Development
Morning sessions focus on actor training, including improvisation, text analysis, character development, staging, voice production and movement for actors. All students will learn more about theater through text and performance. Afternoons are devoted to design and technical theater, with sessions in stage managing, scenery, costume and lighting.
When not in classes or rehearsals, campers have lots of fun participating in a variety of enjoyable recreational activities. Living, dining, and learning together, they have ample opportunity to get to know each other and develop lasting friendships. Activities typically include: Ice-breaker games on the first night, Movies in Nevins Theater , Outdoor games such as 'Capture the Flag' and 'Ultimate Frisbee,”  Indoor games such as 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire,' 'Project Runway,' ping pong, board games, basketball, etc., Social gatherings with refreshments & music in the Knight Club, Relaxing and socializing at local coffee house, Farewell party on the last night

Program Information:
The Summer Theater Institute is a coed, residential program for students entering grades 10-12.
Dates: July 19-31, 2020 - Two Week Camp
Cost: $2,000 covers tuition, housing, food, field trip, supervision, activities and program materials
Commuter Rate for Local Students: $1,845.00- covers tuition, daytime classes, program materials, field trip, lunch and dinner when after-dinner sessions are scheduled. Application deadline: May 1, 2020

Programs are offered to Boys & Girls – Grades K-9 – of all levels under the guidance of certified teachers and coaches.
FSCamps specially designed programs help our campers improve their skills in their respective activities, and offer a balanced day of skills training and recreational activities to ensure campers have a perfect blend of instruction and fun.

Young Photographers (Grades 4-8)
July 13-July 24. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition). Bring your digital camera! Learn the art and science of photography and discover what makes a good photograph while working in a digital lab. Display your work at the final exhibition!
Young Actors and Performers (Grades 4-8)
June 29-July 10. Monday-Friday. 9:30am-3:30pm. $1,200/$1,080 (discounted tuition). Explore the building blocks professional performers use through daily classes in improvisation, movement and diction warm ups, and relaxation techniques. Also, choose one of two tracks:

• Musical Theatre Skills: In-depth instruction in singing, dancing, and acting in preparation for your musical theatre scene!
