Summer College for High School Students:
One-Week Session Open to all High School Students

Description:
In Ithaca's residential pre-college summer program, high school students experience college life and two non-credit workshops while living in a safe environment
The program is open to all high school students
Primary workshop subjects include:
American Sign Language • Design Thinking • Digital Music Production • Digital Photography
Figure Drawing • Fashion essentials • Game Design • Outdoor Leadership • Screenwriting
Sports Media and Marketing • Writing College Application Essays
Afternoon workshop options include:
yoga, mountain biking, hiking, archery, golf, personal fitness
creative writing, knitting/crochet, and personal defense.

Program Information:
Coed. Residential. June 28 - July 3, 2020 .
Open to all high school students.
The summer 2020 fee to attend a one-week course is $1,680. This fee covers room, board, tuition and activities.
Commuter rates are available upon request.

Summer College for High School Students:
Three-Week Session Open to all High School Students

Description:
Summer College is a three-week academic program for talented students who have completed their sophomore or junior year in high school. Students live together in a residence hall and choose one of ten college-level courses and three noncredit workshops. Students earn two to four college credits. Ithaca College faculty teaches all courses. The program includes co-curricular seminars and recreational activities.
College-level course subjects include:
Acting I; General Psychology; Health Sciences: Foundations & Careers; Media & Communication Studies; Introduction to Musical Theater Performance; Health Sciences; Sociology; Sport Media; Television Studio Production; STEM Institute Undergraduate Research; Writers Institute (2 weeks)
Afternoon workshop options include:
dance, voice lessons, sword for the stage, costume construction, yoga, mountain biking, hiking, archery, golf, writing college application essays, personal fitness, creative writing, knitting/crochet, scuba diving (with certification), and personal defense.

Program Information:
Coed. Residential. July 5 - July 24, 2020
Students who have completed their sophomore or junior year in high school
Students who have completed their sophomore or junior year in high school
Students who demonstrate an above-average academic profile, leadership skills, or special talents will be given preference.
The application process includes a request for a brief essay explaining your interest in the program and a request for your high school transcript.
2020 cost: $4,995 (including STEM Institute)
Cost includes room, board, tuition and activities.
A limited number of partial tuition scholarships are available to those in special need who complete a financial aid application, available on the program website.

Summer Piano Institute at Ithaca College
Ten-Day Session Open to Pianists, aged 12 through 18

Description:
The Ithaca College School of Music invites talented young pianists, aged 12 through 18, for 10 days of intensive piano study in the heart of the Finger Lakes. The Summer Piano Institute at Ithaca College is a comprehensive program of varied musical experiences held on the beautiful IC campus. Participants use the superb facilities of the James J. Whalen Center for Music, where a nationally and internationally known piano faculty provides a lively array of daily lessons, workshops, classes, and supervised practice. Recreational and social activities, such as field trips and picnics, are offered too. The institute is residential, but commuters are also welcome.

Program Information:
July 2 - July 11, 2020. Coed. Residential program with a commuter option
Enrollment is limited and competitive: must demonstrate musical proficiency and personal maturity; must be at least 12 years old by June 2020. (upper age limit is 18)
Application complete an application; obtain a letter of recommendation from their private teacher for new (non-returning) applicants; include a YouTube link of an audio recording with two pieces of contrasting character and style; make a list of the repertoire you have studied during the past two years and indicate which pieces you have memorized or performed in recital. 
Application deadline- April 1, 2020. 
Notification of acceptance- on or around April 30, 2020. Fees paid in full-June 1, 2020
Fees Residential - $1,980 (includes instruction, recitals, activities, supervised housing, all meals from dinner June 27th through lunch on July 6th, plus two tickets for family members to the closing luncheon).
Fees: Commuter - $1,240 (includes same as for residential participants with the exception of housing. All meals included.)

Ithaca Writers Institute at Ithaca College
Two-week residential program open to all High School Students

Description:
Begin your writing odyssey in Ithaca. The Ithaca Writers Institute, a noncredit summer program for high school students, offers two weeks of intensive creative and professional writing workshops on the campus of Ithaca College in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Taught by the distinguished faculty of the College’s Department of Writing. Students spend mornings in two-hour workshops, focusing on the genre of their choice (Fiction, Personal Essay, Poetry, Science Fiction and Fantasy.) Students spend afternoons in lectures and craft classes that allow them to experiment across the genres: Flash Fiction/Nonfiction; Magazine Editing and Publishing; Submission, Rejection, and Publication; Reading to Write; Writing as a Critic; Writing Children's Literature. In the evenings, they participate in a student reading series and interact directly with visiting writers and publishing professionals who have expert insight into the craft and business of writing.

Program Information:
July 5 to July 17, 2020. Coed. Residential program with a commuter option.
Enrollment is competitive. Must demonstrate writing proficiency in chosen genre.
APPLICATION: Applications open January 1st. Complete the online application by May 15th.
You may apply in two genres, but you will only be accepted into one.

Description:
The Pre-College STEM Institute is a three-week, residential program that provides high school age students with the ability to work hands-on with Ithaca College faculty and IC undergraduate students while assisting with ongoing lab and field research in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, and Environmental Sciences. STEM Institute students earn 3.0 credits of undergraduate research from Ithaca College
Students live in an Ithaca College residence hall and are provided with a full meal plan as part of the program costs. A full schedule of STEM lectures, panel discussions and social activities in the evenings and on weekends is part of the STEM Institute curriculum.

July 5 - July 24, 2020
Eligibility: Current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are encouraged to apply to the summer college program.
Current seniors who plan to attend college to pursue a STEM field are also welcome to apply.
